One of my favorites Jun 28, 2000 Mark Chestnutt has always been a true Texan country crooner. Having collected all of his albums, this one stands head and shoulders above the rest. Aside from the radio hits (Old Country, Bubba Shot the Jukebox ) songs like Talking to Hank and Old Flames Have New Names shows his vocal range. All around, the album maintains the listener's interest. If you like Mark, this is a "must have".

A Great CD. Jun 09, 2000 I Have This CD At Home. Mark Chesnutt Is One Of The Best Country Singers Today. He Also Has Talent In Songs Like The Ballads: "I'll Think Of Something", "Bubba Shut The Jukebox", And "Ol' Country", And The Two-Stepping Dance Song "Old Flames Have New Names". This Guy Is The Real Deal.

Should have made him a superstar!!! May 05, 2004
By Cory L. Schwent This album had it all, 10 songs that could have all been singles; excellent honky-tonk sound; and awesome cover art. If this were released in 1955, it would have knocked Webb Pierce off his rocker!!!!! Timeless music. I don't know what else to say. This is one of those cd's that you will be able to sing along with every song!! And who would have ever thought that Mark Chesnutt could cover early period Charlie Rich (Who Will The Next Fool Be) and actually make the song his? I paid full price for this cd when it was realeased, now you can get it for budget price. You have no excuse not to have this.

MY FAVORITE CHESNUTT Sep 03, 2003 Longnecks and Short Stories is Mark Chesnutt's very best. Classic country western sounds by one of the greatest voices in the business.
One Of Mark Chesnutt's Older CDs, But I Love It - Repeat Purchase! Nov 27, 2010

I love Mark Chesnutt, and although he had heavy airplay at the beginning of his career, like most real country singers, I have to hunt him down, now. He has continued to perform and record, and I have been replacing some of his older CDs, lately: Yes, I am of the school that you can have an IPod, a computer, whatever, but I am always going to keep my plain old-fashioned CDs as backup. Anyhow, this is a great ten song set from Mark, with more than a couple of songs now associated with Mark more than even the original singer who put it out. A good example is "I'll Think Of Something", which Hank, Jr., as well as others, had recorded long before Chestnutt put on his first Stetson, but it's Mark's heartache of a rendition you'll always go to first. He also had the mammoth hit "Bubba Shot The Jukebox" on here, "Old Flames Have New Name" (another smash), and the bluesy "Who Will The Next Fool Be?". Really, the entire set is great, and if you're cross-referencing country singers and you come across Mark Chesnutt for the first time, I'm here to tell you...this guy is a country singer, not an earring wearin', hair down to his waist, voice layered-over-ten-times singer, and to prove that those in the know recognize this fact, George Jones himself makes an appearance with Mark on the song "Talking To Hank". Just good, solid music all around - Now, how do we get real country music back on the radio?????
